Electrician It is anticipated that students attending
a day-release course, whilst being employed, would achieve
Level 2 in two years and Level 3 after a further two years
minimum.
Level 2 would involve a City & Guilds Part 1 examination,
and a practical test (AM1) plus assessments in College.
Level 3 will involve C & G Part 2 examination and a
further practical test (AM2). All other units will be assessed
in the workplace.

NVQ Level 3
Contribute to customers requirements
and design within regulatory requirements.
Survey the site for installation and
services.
Prepare, maintain and restore the work
site for electrical installation and commissioning.
Install and verify electrical installation.
Commission electrical installation.
Diagnose and rectify causes of faults
and restore effective performance.
Identify and comply with regulatory
and statutory requirements.
Control quality and progress of operations
and the monitoring of costs.
Contribute to the improvement of the
organisations services to its customers.

Costs:All
College Fees, NVQ registration and examination fees are
met by
GBCT from Government Funding under the Jobskills/Modern
Apprenticeship Schemes.
Progress:GBCT
Training Adviser will carry out at least two Progress Visits
at College
and three on Site annually. A written report will be given
to the Trainee with
a copy to the employer.

Pay &
Conditions
An apprentice's wages are paid by
the employer. However, rates of pay, overtime, travelling
time, holidays, grievance procedures and general welfare
benefits are determined by the JIB.
